Hi – I’m Emily.

My greatest joy comes from creating and fostering relationships that offer space for people to feel seen, heard, and nourished so that they can bring their greatest gifts to the world from an empowered, embodied place.

For the past fourteen years of my professional life, I’ve followed my curiosity to explore how humans relate to the built, natural, and social environment, navigate relationships within organizations and with work, repair and transform through intrapersonal and interpersonal conflict, and heal the connection between mind and body.

I'm deeply excited about designing and facilitating people-first experiences that are supportive, inclusive, generative, and sustainable. Doing this work with people who are committed to creating a more equitable, compassionate, and creative world excites me even more.

I’ve collaborated with individuals and teams at organizations ranging from high-growth startups (e.g., Glossier, Reddit) to well-known for- and non-profit corporations (e.g., Google, The Associated Press) to mammoth public sector institutions (e.g., Department of Energy, NASA).

In addition to coaching, facilitation, and consulting, I heal social ecosystems as the founder and CEO of Nellie Labs, where I collaborate with other curious minds to imagine, explore, and build experiences that change the way humans navigate relationships with ourselves and each other, and as a mindful somatic practitioner at The Eighth House, a virtual practice dedicated to reimagining the delivery of social, emotional, and mental wellbeing care.

Beyond work, you might find me riding my bicycle up steep hills, writing poetry and telling stories about queerness and mental health, playing the guitar, gobbling up books, and running mountain trails.

I move through the world as a queer, cisgender, able-bodied, white woman and use the pronouns she/her.

If you’re curious about credentials…

I completed leadership coaching training at American University in Washington, DC, and went on to earn additional accreditation from the International Coach Federation as a Professional Certified Coach. I received my master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in city planning with a focus on community development, design strategy, and research, and my bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University. I hold certifications in Internal Family Systems, somatic attachment therapy, and embodied conflict resolution, and have also received training in the Hakomi Method, a form of assisted, mindful self-study.

Acknowledging the land and its people

I am a settler on land stolen from the Ramaytush Ohlone people. While land acknowledgment is an Indigenous protocol, for settlers and guests alike, the act of land acknowledgment offers an invitation to confront our relationship to and with power and privilege, specifically within the context of colonialism. I tangibly support the rematriation of ancestral land, ecological restoration, and the revitalization of traditions sacred to the Ramaytush Ohlone people through quarterly payments of the Yunakin Land Tax.
